Cooper won the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series award for his gripping portrayal of Jamie Miller, a teen accused of murder, in Adolescence. And this is his message to the whole world: “you listen and focus and step out of your comfort zone, you can achieve anything in life.”

Also historic is Tramell Tillman’s achievement of becoming the first Black man to win an Emmy. He won the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series award for his role as Seth Milchick in Severance.

Nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category last year for Season 1 of The Last of Us and this year for Season 2, Bella Ramsey at 21 years is now the youngest two-time nominee and also the first non-binary performer to be nominated more than once in an acting category.

Other records include 77-year-old Kathy Bates, the oldest nominee for Lead Actress in a Drama Series (Matlock), 83-year-old Harrison Ford, the second oldest nominee for Supporting Actor in a Comedy (Shrinking), and 29-year-old Ayo Edebiri, the first Black woman nominated for both acting and directing in the same year (The Bear) and the youngest Black woman to receive three acting nominations.

The individual record for most Emmys in a single year has one more member in its list. Seth Rogen who won awards for best lead actor, director, writer, and producer for his work on The Studio, is now tied with three other individuals who won four awards in a calendar year: Moira Demos in 2016, Amy Sherman-Palladino in 2018, and Dan Levy in 2020.

Adolescence was the night’s top limited series, earning six awards, including wins for Erin Doherty, Stephen Graham, and trophies for writing, directing, and Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series; bringing its total to 8 Emmys.

The top winner of the evening was The Studio, which earned four major awards including Outstanding Comedy Series and amassed a total of 13 Emmys, breaking the single-season record for a comedy series previously held by The Bear. The Pitt took home three awards, including Outstanding Drama Series, marking the first time since ER in 1996 that a medical procedural has won the top drama prize.

The host of the evening was comedian Nate Bargatze, making his debut as an Emmy host.

This year’s Emmys reflected both progress and innovation. New rules allowed directors to submit multiple episodes across different series, and past lead/supporting nominees were barred from guest categories for the same roles. For the first time in its history, every nominated writing team for a comedy series included at least one woman.

With record-setting wins, breakthrough performances, and renewed appreciation for television’s past, the 2025 edition balanced tradition and transformation and ushered in a new generation of stars, led by none other than the amazing new teen heartthrob, Owen Cooper.

FICCI Frames is supposed to be Asia’s largest movie and media convention, where people come to listen to important film professionals and then later meet them and try to do some film business. This is a 3-day, star-studded event which is held almost every year at the Renaissance Hotel in Powai. Now, it has a different name. It’s called the Hotel Westin.

I felt good to be back at the first full-fledged edition after COVID 19. It was a thrilling experience once again to attend the extravaganza of the entertainment and media industry’s marvelous gathering. As usual, there were celebrities and known personalities all over the place at FICCI Frames. I talked to some of them. I also met many film people who are regular attendees. But I missed some who usually come, but didn’t turn up this time. Or, maybe they came and I didn’t see them.

NFDC would be financing projects to encourage young filmmakers who don’t have access to funds. NFDC would also start its own OTT platform to showcase films that don’t get a chance to be seen.

One thing I like about these discussions is that anyone in the audience is allowed to ask questions during the Q&A round. This year, an 11-year-old kid who does masterful coding on his own and has this incredibly innovative idea to manufacture and sell an AI spectacles raised his hand. He’s a really smart kid. He initially took the mic to ask a question. Then, he stunned all the dignitaries by telling them about his Super Glasses idea. I hope his fabulous dream project becomes a reality.
